BPC-157, Synthetic pentadecapeptide
A 15 amino acid peptide fragment based on a sequence in human gastric juice, studied extensively for tissue repair and angiogenic signaling in preclinical models.
Mechanism of action
In animal studies, BPC-157 is thought to switch on the body's blood vessel growth signaling, which is how researchers believe it speeds tissue repair.

The most studied area: rodent work reports faster healing of tendon, ligament, muscle, and bone injuries, largely attributed to the angiogenic and growth factor signaling in the pathway above.

Claimed for tendon/ligament/muscle healing and gut repair. As of 2026 it has not completed any registered Phase II or III human trial, only a few small pilots exist (intra articular knee pain, interstitial cystitis, IV safety/PK). Essentially all efficacy data is rodent.
Human safety is genuinely unknown: no PK characterization and unknown immunogenicity for a non naturally occurring peptide. A theoretical oncologic concern is that the same VEGF/angiogenesis pathway that aids healing could feed an existing tumor. Anecdotal reports include nausea, dizziness, and injection site reactions.
Active or suspected malignancy; pregnancy; anyone unable to verify product quality.
Not FDA approved. Placed in FDA Category 2 (Sept 2023) and removed in April 2026 (nomination withdrawn), a grey zone that does NOT authorize compounding. Scheduled for PCAC review July 23, 2026 (ulcerative colitis). WADA prohibited (S0, explicitly named).
