In 62 patients, Selank's anxiolytic effect was comparable to medazepam but with added antiasthenic effect and no sedation or dependence.
Full profile
A Russia registered anxiolytic. Russian RCT type studies report anxiolytic efficacy comparable to benzodiazepines without sedation, dependence, or cognitive impairment; one double blind GAD trial reported larger HAM-A reduction vs placebo. Samples are small and single institution, and comparison to benzodiazepines (rather than first line SSRIs) limits Western relevance.
Well tolerated, with no dependence/withdrawal reported; long term/Western data limited.
Russia registered; not FDA approved. Category 2 (2023); nomination withdrawn Sept 2024; not yet scheduled for PCAC review. WADA: S0.
