Sermorelin, GHRH(1-29) fragment
The GHRH(1-29) fragment, the shortest fully active GHRH sequence, used to stimulate physiologic, pulsatile growth hormone secretion.
Mechanism of action
The shortest fully active piece of GHRH, it tells the pituitary to release growth hormone in natural, physiologic pulses.
Also studied
Stimulates pituitary GH in physiologic pulses with a short (~12 min) half life; originally a pediatric GH deficiency therapy and diagnostic.

Full profile
Originally a pediatric GH deficiency therapy and diagnostic, now prescribed off label for adult 'anti aging'/GH optimization. Human efficacy for anti aging endpoints is not established.
Injection site reactions, flushing, headache; IGF-1 mediated theoretical risks.
Was FDA approved as Geref (discontinued 2008 for commercial reasons; approval withdrawn 2009, NOT for safety/efficacy, which legally enables compounding). Available only via 503A/503B compounding by prescription. WADA prohibited (S2, named GHRH analog).
Subcutaneous, typically at night.
